We are excited to release our schedule for the 2019-2020 academic year! We’ve been working with our enrolled families to come up with ways to even further enhance their homeschool experiences. Some of these changes include “taking over” science and social studies!
Opening Day: Tuesday, September 10, 2019
Thanksgiving Break: November 26 and 28
Holiday Break: December 24, 26, 31 and January 2
Winter Break: February 18, 20
Spring Break: April 7, 9
Last Day: Thursday, May 21
By lengthening our afternoon block, we’re better able to incorporate experiments and labs into science and music, art, and movement into social studies. We will be sending home age and level appropriate activities that families can choose to complete in the different areas. The upcoming year’s focus of study in science is biology and Medieval History in social studies.
Our youngest learners will be exposed and a part of the action during these rigorous and engaging lessons while also having time to complete more age-appropriate activities as they relate to the content areas… not to mention plenty of time to play and explore!
We are also excited to share details about our new, half-year Financial Literacy course for our middle schoolers! Think “What is money and how do I earn and keep it?” blended with “Shark Tank”. We will also dive into the students’ personalities, problem-solving, and are looking at lining up some amazing speakers to share their entrepreneurial quests.
Examples of what the students will be working on can be found here:
We are still flying high off our wonderful first year and are excited to welcome a few new families into our community. If you are interested in hearing more about GFT and all the excitement we have in store for the future, please reach out to us here.
Enjoy the summer, and we’ll see you soon!
